About
the Band
Then

And Now!!
Sorgenbrecher Update!!
After many years of the band
consisting of the same members, there has been a change. Ronnie Doditch
who has played with Tommy on and off for 25 years has retired (and we all
want to wish him well ), so he (and his beautiful daughter Suzy who was
always a bright spot at each performance) will no longer be traveling with
the band.
Ronnie has been a favorite with
the other band members and so many people who have followed him throughout
the years. He was a very dedicated band member, never missing a job,
always on time and so much fun to say nothing of his exceptional ability
on the accordion and his terrific yodeling! He will truly be
missed by all of us!
On a brighter note – Rich Gerhardt who played with Tommy many years ago has joined our group and everybody is VERY EXCITED to have him. Tommy, Roy and Gene are truly looking forward to a great new year with the band!.
I will try to get reservations for the 10th of February and post some new pictures of the current band as soon as possible. In the meantime, the 2007 schedule is up, and we are so looking forward to seeing everyone!

About the Band
Tommy Schober has been playing professionally since the age of 14! His brother had the original Sorgenbrecher band back in the 1950's, and when Tommy was forming his band he asked his brother if it would be all right to use the name. His brother was more than happy to let Tommy have the name so in 1974 today's "Sorgenbrecher " was formed.
The loose translation of the meaning of Sorgenbrecher is "Breakers of Sorrow" which is something the band does very well!
Ronnie and Gene joined up with Tommy in 1976, Roy in 2001. Many members of the band have come and gone, and come back again but the core of the band, Tommy, has always been there. His infectious joy and love of music keep everyone coming back, time and time again. When you watch the band performing you can see the fun the band members are having playing their music together and their energy is contagious!
The band has traveled to points far and wide. They have performed in Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii and all of the states surrounding Michigan.
If you have heard the Sound of Sorgenbrecher,
you know how great they are. If you haven't, you need to come
join them for a truly memorable evening!
The Best German Band in Michigan!
